My Twenty Year Plan

Play your cards, go against all odds, shoot for the moon, if you miss you’re still amongst those stars. – Beanie Siegel
Ok… Here’s the scoopity doop. This is the super abridged version. I will elaborate more in the documentary that should and better be accompanying this website. Turns out, as I type this, businesses are starting to open back up (since being shutdown due to covid-19), and they all seem to have a fire lit, so I must type quickly hahah!
Sometime in and around 2005, I was going through a journey (I’ll get more into detail about those years in another blog post), which basically led me Dancing and Teaching for the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in and around 2008.
While I was instructing and chasing a dance dream, I also liked to do a ton of other things in the creative realm; Acting, Rapping, Making Beats, Filming, Editing, Designing and whatever else I could get my hands on to create with.
When I wasn’t teaching in the studio, I walked around the ballroom filming everything, just to document, make funny clips for social media and eventually used that footage to make promo videos for whatever events were coming up in the studio or other regional dance events.
When I wasn’t filming or editing, I was creating silly t shirt ideas, banging on a drum machine or studying how to create websites, and if i wasn’t doing any of those I was trying to get lit with my buddies or hang with the ladies… And then it dawned on me, I LIKE TO DO A LOT OF STUFF!!!
I developed this concept (At least from the research I did immediately after accidentally saying the phrase, I think I developed it), called the “Starving Artists Complex,” after realizing how many artist friends I knew at the time, also liked to dabble in everything! I thought, maybe there was a way to combine all of the things I was passionate about, rather than focusing on one creative outlet. And, maybe, just maybe, there was a way for me to include all my like-minded friends or other artists in the process. But then life continued.
Although the long winded Starving Artists Concept was sitting on my mind’s back burner, I still managed to slowly chisel away but also add to it. I think that was about the time the two outlets, web design and t shirt design decided they wanted to combine, which was basically me wanting to make some damn money.
So, I developed a site called starvingartistsclothing.com. I had a basic intro page, a coming soon video and a sign up form for future access.
Of course the ideas kept comin’, and eventually I found myself purchasing joam.mega ( “Jack Of All Media Megazine”), and a bunch of urls I’d rather keep unknown for now. The goal was going to combine all of these ideas of course, building what I thought was going to be my Grand Opus… And then life continued.
I continued to create videos, promote events and provide Social Media Marketing for the Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Wisconsin. I was eventually invited to do what i did on a regional level, but this time at the Fred Astaire National Events.
Then Facebook introduced livestreaming on their platform. 360 cameras starting coming out. 3d cameras started coming out. Drones became more prevalent. VR & AR on Social Media. Podcasts. Vlogging. Dance Challenges. You name it. It was there. Technology was comin’!
I revamped the blueprint I had created while promoting events, two or three more times over, to accommodate the new technologies and social platforms that were seeping through our everyday lives.
During this time, maybe 2016 or 2017, I was starting to be invited to promote at other regional events around the country and started developing vlogs and podcasts on my travels. Things took off! I decided to make an official business out of it, called it “ReLive,” We Capture Moments, You ReLive Them!
More ideas started rolling in, some of them mediocre, some of them sucked, and some of them were amazing. No matter what the idea, however, it always seemed to directly or indirectly, circle back to the “Starving Artists Complex.” I want to create with people. I want to help people. I want to help other people create. I want to create for people. I want to collaborate with people. I want other people to be able to collaborate with other people. HMMMM….
Then Covid-19 happens, and we are all shoved into our homes, for 8 weeks and counting. All of my events are either canceled all together, or postponed until further notice, essentially killing my current business model… DAMN!…..
You can’t kill ME though, I like to do too many things!.. So then my brain starts going…
If my company is called ReLive with the idea that people want memories, businesses want memories, that they can RELIVE later, but there currently are no memories being captured…publicly… We are left to staying in our homes, to live in it… THE PRESENT…NOW…IN THE MOMENT…how can I repurpose this concept?…. RELIVE=PAST…LIVE=NOW….
RELIVE presents: WE’RELIVE
BINGO!
